The overall principal governing grant levels for individual projects will be that of no personal gain. As a result, no grant will exceed the conservation deficit i.e. the funding gap between the cost of repairs and the end value of the property.

Both HLF and the TH Partnership encourage the use of suitably qualified professional advisers. The building owner should therefore employ either a qualified Chartered Architect (RIBA/ARB) or Chartered Building Surveyor (RICS) who have an appropriate level of specialist experience in conservation work.
